  1. I know this doesn't really count as a ghost town, but it's 70 years old and really cool. In 1944, a B-24 slammed into Arizona's tallest peak, killing all 8 on board. Here's some pictures of the wreckage and from the hike. You can also read about how I almost had to eat cat food during this trip here: http://www.experience-az.com/features/b24crashsite.html To see all the pictures, information, video, etc. go here: http://www.experience-az.com/adventures/hike/b24crash/b24crash.html Landing gear sticking up out of the lava field Plane parts More plane parts And more plane parts. Lots of them strewn about over a very large area One of the remaining propellers (yes, people have been taking pieces of the plane home for souvenirs) A wing Me next to the landing gear (photo taken by Brian Sullins) Another piece of the wing Reflections in the stainless steel, which is still shiny after 70 years in the harsh Arizona elements Brian, still smiling, after 7 hours of hiking
