Barber Canyon (Barbersville) 2015 / 2019

Recommended Posts

Went chukar hunting yesterday and ended up in Barber Canyon. This area was hit by a wildfire since my last visit in September, 2015. Some before and after images.

How sad to lose such awesome old structures! This is why I'm so hellbent on photographing everything I can, in as much detail as possible, while it still exists.

In 1998 I shot pics of the Bowery mine south of Pioche. The hoist house had the original hoist, plus a slightly newer hoist, plus an air compressor, etc. The hoist still had the electrical components, and even the operator's chair still in place. I went back a few years later and there was nothing left. A brush fire had burned through the area, and then whatever wasn't destroyed by the fire was bulldozed and hauled away.
